A man who once thrived on wickedness and counted on forgiveness,
Curtis Black has changed his ways. Back in the heart of his congregation and his
family, he will no longer stray from the beaten path. Or so he's promised his
long-suffering wife, Charlotte.
But the sins of the past have strange ways of coming to light. First, Curtis's
former mistress shows up with their newborn baby daughter—named Curtina—and
insists that Curtis be a part of their lives. Charlotte has forbidden her
husband to have anything to do with them, but the trouble is, Curtis's newfound
conscience is leading him to have uncomfortable thoughts of responsibility.
Also, the interim pastor who took over while Curtis was on a book tour is
threatening blackmail. He's gotten too used to life at the pulpit and will do
everything in his power to stay there.
Meanwhile, Charlotte has her own previous transgressions to deal with. The man
who claims to be her son's biological father has turned up and wants to make
amends for the past thirteen years. If Charlotte gives in to his increasing
requests, she may lose the only child she has left.
However, Curtis and Charlotte have been through too much together to give up
now. They must work harder than ever—as a mother and a father, as husband and
wife—to save their family, their marriage, and their souls.

Carl Weber--the
New York Times bestselling author of
The First
Lady and
So You Call Yourself a Man--represents with a
straight-up novel about friendship and love, sex and betrayal, and how
getting some on the side is never as simple as it seems...
Meet Tammy, Egypt, Isis, Nikki, Coco, and Tiny--the bodacious women
of the Big Girls Book Club. There's only one rule to being a member. You
must be at least a size 14...
BGBC president Tammy loves everything about her life--her two kids,
her fierce friends, her BMW. She especially loves taking care of
business for her husband, Tim, for whom she'd do anything. This year,
she intends to top all his past birthdays by having a threesome with her
best friend, Egypt. Now, if only Egypt will agree to grant them this
very special favor...
Isis's boyfriend, Tony, romances her every chance he gets--and he
knows how to turn up the heat, which makes Isis willing to lay down and
die for him. That is until a man from her past steps back into her
life--with only one goal in mind: win back the woman he's never been
able to forget.
But not every BGBC member is lucky with men. Once upon a time, single
mom Nikki would have made love to her man in the middle of Times Square
for the entire country to see. Now that he's her ex, it takes everything
she has not to kill him (or let her roommate, Tiny, do it for her),
especially since he has a way of disappointing their son every chance he
gets--and then making her look like the bad guy.
And then there's hot-to-trot Coco Brown, who has a habit of messing
around with married men. It doesn't bother her, as long as they don't
try to deny it. But now that she's hooked up with a man who makes his
living being every woman's fantasy, all she cares about is making sure
he doesn't stray.
As insatiable about books as they are about love--or lust--these
friends are about to discover how tough it is to keep it real when they
all have Something on the Side.

Felicia crazy. But neither can imagine life without the other.
The solution: 1920 Peachtree, owned by their good friend Tarik. The twins can

But for two crazy sistahs like Felicia and Aisha, life is never simple. Aisha's
eyeing Derrick upstairs, even after his pregnant ex-girlfriend from Chicago

sister, and her life takes an even crazier turn when she falls in love with her
best friend. And they're both beginning to wonder if the business they started
was the right choice.
It's a bumpy ride, but the twins are set to prove that determined women truly
can have it all -- careers, maybe marriage, and certainly lots of good, hot
sex....

In Murray's powerful testament to Christian fellowship and
friendship (after 2006's A Sin and a Shame), four members of an L.A. prayer
group find spiritual growth and heartache as they struggle with broken dreams.
Drawn together by Hope Chapel's Pastor Beverly Ford, these African-American
women stand at crossroads in their lives. For Sheridan Hart it's trying to
choose between marrying her lover or going back to the bisexual Ex who left her
for a man. Kendall Stewart deals with her rage over her younger sister and Ex
falling in love, but must make a life or death choice when her sister becomes
seriously ill. Asia Ingram wants revenge on the father of her six-year-old
daughter, a retiring, married LA Laker who's decided to end their decade-long
affair. Vanessa Martin copes badly in the aftermath of her husband Reed's
shocking suicide, grappling with a growing depression that threatens her ability
to go on. The engrossing transitions the women go through make compelling
reading, but some readers might find some of Pastor Ford's wisdom a little off
as she assures Sheridan that Quentin, her bi-sexual Ex, "wasn't born that way."
Still, Murray's vivid portrait of how faith can move mountains and heal
relationships should inspire her growing conservative fan base.

Lamont be my government, but Hood be my name. I earned my
stripes chilling up in Fat Daddy's joint, a Brownsville barbershop in the belly
of Brooklyn. Some called me a street savior...others said I was just another
Brownsville boy gone bad. Whatever. I brung it and I took it too. But when it
was all said and done, I walked away with a lesson learned in street loyalty:
ain't no need in looking over your shoulder in this game. Because your real
enemies ain't aiming at your back. They lunging straight for your heart. Ya dig?
Lamont "Hood" Mason is a fearless nineteen-year-old gangsta who was born and
raised in the projects of Brooklyn, New York. He was an abandoned child who
roamed the cold city streets and fought hard for survival. The only thing
constant in his young life was the safety of a Brownsville barbershop owned by a
father figure called Fat Daddy.
The barbershop is where Hood comes of age, but cutting hair isn't the only thing
Fat Daddy has going on. His daughter, Egypt, is the love of Hood's young life,
and the one person whose dreams of a stable future can lead him off the grimy
urban corners and out of the hustling life.
But when Fat Daddy gets caught slippin and crosses paths with Xanbar, a
notoriously brutal drug kingpin, his vices threaten to bring death down on the
family Hood loves. In an effort to protect his own, Hood and his best friend and
hustling partner, Dreko, take to the streets on a bloody mission that doesn't go
exactly as planned. Hood returns to find his world turned upside down by a wave
of sex, violence, and betrayal. No longer the starving kid on the street, he's
now a man seeking vengeance and retribution, and he might be forced to choose
between bending or breaking as he picks up the shattered pieces of his life, one
by one.

OMAR TYREE DOES IT AGAIN!
The Philadelphia-born author, who jumpstarted the urban fiction craze more than
a dozen years ago with Flyy Girl, presents the riveting new tale of Shareef
Crawford, a celebrated writer of romantic fiction, who leaves his sunny mansion
in South Florida and returns to his Harlem roots to pen a true crime book that
may just end his life.
Craving more respect for his craft as a writer, particularly from his peer group
of urban men, Shareef allows an enticing female fan to pitch him a
no-holds-barred tell-all about an imprisoned Harlem gangster who admires
Shareef's writing. With insane courage and an iron will, Shareef, the
street-smart intellectual, finally gets a chance to write something more edgy
and noteworthy.
However, the Harlem streets he returns to in 2006 have changed, and the stakes
of survival are higher now than they've ever been. Amid the rise of high-priced
condominiums, a changing population, young criminals gunning to make names for
themselves, and old criminals fighting to become legitimate businessmen, Shareef
finds himself caught in a real-life thriller where past foes become friends, and
trusted friends become dangerous foes. Nevertheless, the Harlem legend is
hell-bent to do anything he can to gain the respect on the streets that his
career as a writer of women's fiction has failed to give him.
The Last Street Novel is another urban classic as only Tyree, the
self-proclaimed Urban Griot, can write them!
BOOK REVIEW: "More than ten years ago, Omar Tyree
established a new revolution of urban readership that inspired me to write my
first book and spawn my publishing empire. After reading this book, it's obvious
Omar still has the gift of pen to capture the emotions, grit, and truths of
urban America like the true originator." -- Vicki Stringer,

What makes a teen yearn to be a porn star diva? Porn star Hunter
answers that question with the full-frontal portrait of Simone Young, a young
New Yorker who decides to gain control of her life through selling her body.
Simone's introduced to the life by Carmen, a former classmate turned prostitute
who persuades Simone to get her freak on. Not content with being a hooker,
Simone works at a hip-hop club, moves on to a massage parlor, becomes a stripper
and, eventually, a porn superstar in L.A. By age 21, she retires, deciding the
adult entertainment industry, numerous affairs and substance abuse will never
fulfill her. Hunter and Valentine's depiction of Simone's descent into a
brittle, hedonistic world leaves little to the imagination, and Simone's
transformation in the resolution remains moving if out of left field. Illus.

What's New Fiction
Bestselling author Treasure E. Blue returns with a gritty
against-all-odds urban fairy tale set in the same unforgiving neighborhood as
that of his breakout debut novel Harlem Girl Lost.
Desire was born on the streets of Harlem–literally. Her mom, a crack-addicted
prostitute, delivered her on a bitter winter’s night after turning a trick and
being brutally beaten by the john. Taken from her mother by the state, Desire
grows up unwelcoming foster homes, until a local Good Samaritan takes her in.
With Miss Hattie Mae’s love and Christian guidance, Desire gains confidence,
joins the church choir, and discovers that she’s got a set of pipes–which soon
attract the attention of hip-hop’s biggest exec.
But the road to superstardom is paved with dangers and temptations: drugged-out,
violent rappers, untrustworthy pro athletes promising romance, and vicious
drugs. Despite her phenomenal success and Miss Hattie Mae’s kindness, Desire
seems destined for a fall from the top that will slam her back onto the pavement
where her mama left her–until an unexpected angel picks her back up. . . .

scene—a seductive, uncertain world that will test the limits of her own
sexuality with every potential lover she meets. For gaining entry into this
elite BDSM cult means that Teresa must let down her defenses—in more ways than
one.
Her search for answers brings her into contact with an enigmatic businessman who
takes her to the brink of her own untapped desires even as he enlists her help
in solving a crime that dates back forty years and crosses continents. From
exotic Bangkok to gleaming Manhattan, Teresa finds herself locked in a sensual
power struggle with a shadowy man who has a deadly agenda. What she uncovers is
a shocking conspiracy of murder that will imperil her life while giving a whole
new meaning to going all the way.

Philadelphia politics and drugs complicate the fate of two
star-crossed lovers in Jones's gripping new novel. Twenty-three-year-old Karima
"Cream" Thomas is just out of prison, having served six months for taking the
fall for Duane Faison, a notorious North Philly drug dealer who charmed Cream
away from her safe life as a member of one of the city's influential political
families. After hooking up with Duane again to say goodbye, she lands a job with
Mayor Jeffrey Tatum's office through the connections of her aunt, Marilyn
Johnson, who's president of the city council and Jeffrey's (married) lover.
Marilyn decides to use Cream's past to manipulate the upcoming elections to her
benefit, but things quickly escalate out of control after Duane's crew go on a
killing spree. Jones (Ride or Die) deftly describes Philly's mean streets, the
slippery slopes of City Hall and the rocky cliffs of Cream's redemption.

Maddeningly clichéd, yet as entertaining as daytime talk show
brawls, Smith's second novel treads on the same turf as her street lit debut,
Rolexxx Club: the hip-hop gutter. When Bobbi Hayes, a sexual conquistador
and "one of the hottest DJs in Miami," crosses paths with Mikhail Petrov, a
shady club owner of the Russian underworld persuasion, she falls easily under
the sway of the immensely and illicitly rich Mikhail and accepts a DJ job on his
yacht cruise to Greece. He eventually gives her the run of Babylon, the Hope
diamond of the Miami club scene. Money can't buy love, but it certainly numbs
the senses of the supposedly streetwise Bobbi, who is used by Mikhail as a front
for devious activity that all but the dead, blind or totally naïve could see. As
the relationship between Bobbi and Mikhail hits the skids and bodies start
dropping, Bobbi turns to hunky club security chief Q in one last effort to find
someone to trust. But is it too late? The cornucopia of sex, name dropping and
hip-hop melodrama is bound to be gobbled up by fans of the genre. (Mar.)

Hip, young, and talented, Desiree Thomas got her first novel
published when she was still in college. The book was a runaway bestseller, but
five years later, with the deadline for her second novel looming and a wicked
case of writer's block, Desiree is feeling the pressure. Only her closest
friends know the truth about Desiree's first book--namely that it was more fact
than fiction. Fact: she fell, hard. Fact: he broke her heart. Fact: love stinks.
But, since real life is the only thing that inspires her art, she's gotta get
out there and live it. So Desiree dives back into dating...for research purposes
only.
Things look promising when she's pursued by two very different men: Hunter, a
tall, dark, and fine med student on the fast track to success; and blue-collar
Jason, whose washboard abs and green eyes make Desiree want to learn all his
secrets. It isn't long before her creative juices really begin to flow. But a
girl can only play two smart men for so long. When they wise up to her game,
will Desiree be able to write herself a happy ending?

Sisters River and Starr leave home in their early teens after a lifetime of
abuse from their drug-addicted mother. Beautiful River joins a stick-up crew,
but she doesn't know that her crew has one secret even she's not in on. When she
falls in love with Eric, one of her victims, she wants out of their dirty game.
Starr is working for a pimp by the time she's sixteen. After one of her dates
assaults her in a motel room, she meets a woman in the hospital who wants to
help her change her life. But Starr cant get out of the game so easily.
Review: Sex, violence and crime dominate Gray's
fifth novel, a wild trip through Jamaica, Queens, that reads not unlike a
novelization of a Jay-Z album. Eric, a smalltime hustler who sells marijuana and
promotes underground parties, is content with his low-key life until he meets
River, a stunner who captures his heart and libido. River, it turns out, is a
hustler in her own right, and sets up Eric for her two male partners to assault
and rob, but even the $35,000 take can't blunt the feelings River has for her
mark. Meanwhile, River's younger sister, Starr, a 16-year-old prostitute
hospitalized after a run-in with a violent john, wants out of the life. Eric's
cousin Russell, paroled after seven years in prison, is hell-bent on retaking
the Queens neighborhoods he once ran. Though Gray's not the sharpest stylist, he
keeps the story moving, and as the narratives converge, he pours on the
luridness. The characters are thin, but the atmosphere is frighteningly
seductive. Street lit fans will definitely want to take a look. (Mar.)

The ladies of Hope Filled Christian Center spend more time
serving other women's husbands than they do serving the Lord in Mason's fourth
novel, a soap opera–like tale about the bad choices smart women make for love
and companionship. Holier-than-thou Faye Watkins is married to the pastor of one
of the largest churches in Dallas. She has a psychology degree and counsels the
women of her husband's church, mostly about their problems with men. Among her
charges is Renee Turner, a bohemian interior decorator who leads the church's
singles' ministry. Renee breaks a long romantic dry spell with a client's
husband, which has some negative consequence. Elise Clayton, a choir member and
real estate agent, would do anything to get Jay, a married-with-kids truck
driver, to leave his wife. And newly empty-nested Tess Martin wishes she had the
strength to leave her philandering husband, Jesse, a church deacon who sleeps
with everyone but her. Readers of commercial African-American fiction who
haven't yet discovered Mason would do well to pick up this steamy cautionary
tale. (Apr.) Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed

Yarni Taylor, a successful lawyer who has dedicated herself to
helping "minority men caught up in the wrath," fights to keep her hustler
husband out of prison in this anemic tale of treachery and dedication among the
rich and ghetto-fabulous. After spending 10 years in prison for a murder he
didn't commit, Des Taylor is pardoned, released and makes Yarni a wife and a
mother. Des also returns to a life of hustling, and after two years of freedom
is framed for another murder. Yarni swears to exonerate the man to whom she has
devoted her life. As the couple work to keep Des free, they also contend with a
myriad of minidramas—an attempted rape, a kidnapping and the murder of a loved
one. Turner (A Hustler's Wife) spares no cliché in this thin story (the
bling quotient is staggering), and readers may feel frustrated at the author's
constant and simplistic explication of her characters' thoughts and actions.
Fans of Turner's earlier works may find something to appreciate, but the
uninitiated will have serious trouble. (Apr.) Copyright © Reed Business

I was just a lost little girl forced to
make it in a grown woman's world. A child turned out by the rulers of the game.
When you get thrown into a snakepit you better learn how to wiggle! It's all
about survival, baby. And not only did I learn the code of the streets, I made
my own damn rules and got paid in the process. So listen close, but watch your
pockets. I'm a Harlem girl. A scandalous chick. A ruthless mama. Me and this
city are just alike. Grimy. And we never, ever sleep...
It's a hard knock life for Saucy Sarita Robinson and the
rules of the game are clear: get yours or get had. When her father gets popped
in an armed robbery and her mother turns to drugs, Saucy is left to scratch out
a life for herself on the streets of Harlem, and this city-slick vixen refuses
to become a victim.
Young, hot, and hungry for the spotlight, Saucy has a full
package and uses her assets to get whatever she wants: 128th Street has its own
rules, and she knows them well. With sex as her weapon of choice, Saucy hustles
her way straight into the heart of the hip-hop underworld, preying upon any man
-- or woman -- who might help her get ahead. But Hottt Saucy just can't get
enough. Her calculating nature and insatiable appetite for power and prestige
tempt her into dangerous waters, and before long she finds herself in too deep.
The shot callers of the hip-hop world have a few tricks for Saucy -- a gutter
plan to force her back onto the very streets that she came from.
But Saucy refuses to go down easy. She plots her revenge
against some of the most powerful playas in the music industry, never suspecting
that her enemies will fight back...and fight back hard.
