3-19-03 Hi Lloyd; Thank you so much for keeping me in your mind and for sending out some information. I appreciate your responding so very much and I am anticipating my winning a book. I will pay the shipping; I count it all a blessing. May God continue to bless your business and in all your endeavors and may heaven open up with blessings you have no room to store..... Beautiful day. Mattie

3-19-03 I recently won a free book, "Threesome" and really enjoyed it. When I received the package last Friday, I said to myself, " I wonder how they are paying for the hundreds of books that they give away." I understand exactly what you mean by $5.00 (New service charge for winners of free book give-aways). That's pennies compared to actually buying the book, the mailer that's enclosed and the shipping costs. I will be more than glad to pay shipping charges and I think its only fair. Does this still mean that we have to wait 60 days or is it just open to everyone? Thanks for all you do and please keep up the excellent work! May God Bless and Keep you in His Loving Care!!! sconner@kuhf.org

1-11-03 I am really glad I discovered "The Black Library".  As I am an avid reader, you've afforded me a new avenue to venture. The authors listed on your web site   have some great titles , and I plan to purchase a lot of them.

12-2002 However, I do have one suggestion for you.  I noticed there is no way to determine if the book is paper back or hard cover. I prefer hard back as I suspect many of your other customers do. Thank you, Carol caw818@comcast.net

12-30-02 I thank you all very much for creating this website. I have recently been on a quest for African American literature. I hope that you will open stores in other areas around america and I will help to get the name of your website out. Thank you very much, Danielle J Baby_girl54@hotmail.com

12-2-02 the black library has been my 1 and only source for books to read which black authors have wrote. When I'm with my gurls all we ever talk about is how is the book we read and would like to give the black libaray props on the books they sell and what people think.

5-13-2002 Hello my name is Colleen and I have a comment. There are 2 guys who work in Dudley Station, ones name is Kevin. My comment is, they have been so supportive to me from the time I started to write my book to the ending, they told me how to sell it and what I need to do.

And that just goes to show that these guys don't even know me and are so helpful. Thank you for them, one is a little older than Kevin (his name is Lloyd) so thank you very much I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Colleen colleenwilliam@yahoo.com

5-9-2002 I am just sooo grateful that you now have 2 bookcarts, because I work downtown and I buy a book every 2 weeks. Before you were located downtown I had a hard time finding books that I like to read. I get personal attention from Lloyd and if something is not available you let me know when it will be. If I finish a book while at lunch I can always run around the corner and grab another for the T ride home. I too am a recovering addict of 11 years and I give you all the Praise and Glory you deserve. Lloyd you are a true POWER OF EXAMPLE! May God continue to Bless you.

5--2002 I love visiting the cart "down Dudley" just so I can dig around in your half-price bin....You always get the books I am looking for..... Thanks by Alene alburrs@aol.com

5-7-2002 Hi, Kevin. It's been a while since I visited your website and I am still impressed. I was listening to Henry Louis Gates, Jr. speaking about "The Bondwoman's Narratives" book on Tom Joyner and I knew I had to have it. I also went on line and heard excerpts read from the audio version. What was even better, was me being afforded the convenience of calling you and knowing that you have this book available. I look forward to my copy, and the "audio." It's very relaxin' and soothin' to be cruisin'and listenin' to an audiobook as an alternative to the radio or music in my SUV. Keep up the good work. Peace. by Adell dellperry@hotmail.com

4-26-2002 I have brought many books from your establishment. There are always so many titles I can choose from and you really can't find that in a lot of places. Keep up the wonderful work! Diedra  Shoopidi@aol.com

2-15-2002 I really enjoyed the look and ease of your web-site.  It is truly an inspiration to move my ideas into practice.  I am a teacher and I really enjoy reading, and promoting the concept of reading to our children would be much easier if there was easy access to books by black authors.  Your website is so informative, and you have resources that I only wish I had access to for my students, as well as for myself (personal and business). sonjibrown@hotmail.com,

7-24-2001 I had a chance to speak briefly today with Lloyd. He diligently helped me find a book that I was searching for. Although I had previously shopped at your cart, it was only today that I visited your well designed web site. Lloyd, your personal story is compelling. It is inspiring to me, and I would imagine it would be toothers as well. Any plans to write a book? If not, no matter. Dear, Daddy and "Uncle" Kevin

I'm writing this to express to you how glad I am to have you two strong Black men in my life. You've showed me how to over come struggles when it seems impossible. I look up to you both as positive role models in my life and I thank you for showing me love.
You've also taught me how to look at books in a new light. I used to think reading wasn't impotent and books were boring. Now I'm able to use books and the literature in them to express my self more openly also I've learned from the book you've given me how to accept my self for the strong black female I am.

Dad thank you for supporting me through me journey now in college and for hooking me look with the books.

You two guys are the best I wish you the best!!!!!!    LOVE ALWAYS, Stephanie

1-27-01

Lloyd and Kevin,

As an African-American author, it is definitely a pleasure to have you gentlemen in my corner. You've built a wonderful site and business that make it possible for authors such as myself to get the promotion and recognition that would not have been so readily available years back. "All realities were at first dreams". Thanks for making our dream a beautiful awakening. Darlene Johnson-- Author of Dream In Color Brandywinepub@MSN.com

My name is Dyna and I think this is a very good web site. I like the fact that I can click on and check on my favorite black authors and also to learn of some new ones who I have'nt heard of. I love to reading by the black authorsIt is nice to Know that we have so many talented black authors out there. Keep up the good work with the web site keep me informed I really aperciate it. It is an excellant site.

12-26-00

I needed to buy a few copies of a great book, "What Black Men Should Do Now", so I got up on the site www.theblacklibrary.com.   I not only got competitive prices with "the others", I got a wonderful library tour around a great site. They have a HUGE selection of books, including a section on self-published and under-rated black books. I bought one, and I'm sure it's money well spent. The service was superb. I had one minor question about an issue, and Mr. Lloyd E. Hart quickly fixed it by email and over the phone. Because of all the hesitation and controversy about doing credit card business on the 'net, you MUST call with your credit information, and there's a toll-free number. We all talk about buying black, the kind of service we get, and what the shortfalls can be. Well, these brothers are doing it right, as you can see by the letter below. I'm sure they can get any book you need, too! They're in Boston, but the beauty of the 'net is that you can buy from any vendor anywhere. I highly recommend The Black Library for your book purchases!

U guys are doing a great job and U will have my continued support. I want to put in my order for E. Lynn Harris book: Not a Day Goes By, due out July 18th. Please let me know when it will be available. Thanks!

Tracy

Lloyd, I feel that you and Kevin are doing a fabulous job and I am glad that we have you to shop with when it comes to buying books about us.

Chris

7-14-00

I think that you are doing a great job in your business venture to bring us, Black people, "deep", if you will, into our literature. There are various genre out there, and I believe through your business, you can expose our people to them.

Now, I know that many times we support and buy mainstream...but might I make a statement? Do not forget the new and self-published authors. I am not saying to not support the mainstream Black authors, because we will. But, might I add, that E. Lynn Harris, Eric Jerome Dickey...and a few others started out self-published and promoting their own books. E. Lynn will tell you he sold his first book from the trunk of his car.

So, in building your great business, I suggest that you add some of the new and self-published, This not only creates exposure for them, but crates business for you. If you need help in this are, please do not hesitate to call me. I have many new and self-published black author friends...with GREAT books! Success...

Sincerely,

Lisa  sistahcircle@hotmail.com

Dear Mr. Hart:

We recently received your generous donation of books for the inmates at the Kentucky State Penitentiary.

The books that you sent will help us to provide the inmates a more variegated prison library that the inmates desperately need.

Organizations and individuals such as yourself help us to make certain that the literary needs of our inmates are met. Without your assistance and dedication, it would be so much harder to make certain that we have the resources available to help the inmates with their educational and emotional growth

I found the (Boston Globe) article that you sent with the books very interesting and motivational. You truly have shown that one can turn their life around and are surely an inspiration to all.

Please keep us in mind if you come across any other resources that I might be able to use to help the inmates at our facility. My address is: Kentucky State Penitentiary

Patti Treat; Program Director, P.O. Box 128,  266 Water Street, Eddyville, KY. 420384)128

Or you may call me at (270)388-2211 Ext. 273.

Again, thank you and good luck with your business career. You deserve all the success you are able to achieve.

Sincerely,  Patti Treat, Program Director

Thurs 2-24-00

Dear Black Library:
I would like to direct this email message to one of the two men who were representing The Black Library last Wednesday, February 16, 2000 at the State Street Bank Building, 225 Franklin Street in Boston. This message is for the man who was wearing, I believe, a blue sweatshirt and jeans, and looked to be the younger of the two (hereinafter "The Man"). I apologize, but I did not ask him for his name.
I was in search of good reading but wasn't sure what I wanted. I recently had purchased a couple of books, however they were not able to capture my attention enough for their conclusion. "The Man" from The Black Library was extremely helpful in assisting me in the selection of two books. He suggested several and I chose "Fed Up With The Fanny" and "Voodoo Love". He told me that "Fed Up With The Fanny" was a guaranteed reader and that he had read it in two days. I purchased that book and later returned in the
afternoon to purchase "Voodoo Love". I just wanted to thank "The Man" for his suggestions. I have completed "Fed Up With The Fanny" and found the book to be excellent. It was nice to get a man's perspective on life and relationships. I have yet to begin "Voodoo Love" but I am sure I will enjoy this book also.
Keep up the good work. It was nice to see a business promoting African American literature. I will spread the word around about The Black Library. Again, thank you.

I would appreciate your kindly directing this email message to "The Man" for his receipt.

Thank you for steering me to BookCloseOuts.com to purchase an out of print book that I would have ordered from you. Your kind service was greatly appreciated and you have a new customer for as long as you are in business. You see I read an African American title every month for the literary society I have been in for the past ten years. I will also pass your name on to my Soulit sisters. Keep up the good work. The title I requested was 1959:A Novel, by Thulani Davis. I ordered it today on line. Thanks, Barbara Mellemax@aol.com

I would like to start off saying this is one of the best African Amercan book sites I have been to. I work in a major book store and I didn't know that this many new books were out by African Americans. My suggestion is to try to have either a monthly newsletter of new or must read books and maybe a catalog of what you carry. Thank you for having such an informative site on our books.
